A different and unique experience. 500 years ago Seville saw the beginning of an exploit that changed history: The First Round the World Voyage. Ferdinand Magellan left the port of Seville on 10 August 1519, captaining five ships and 239 men. The aim was to reach the Spice Islands via a new route that involved crossing the Indies. After countless setbacks, such as the death of Magellan himself, the venture was completed by Juan Sebastián Elcano. On 8 September 1522, the ship Victoria and 18 sailors captained by Elcano arrived in the port of Seville. The first round-the-world voyage had been completed.
The Past View Magellan – Elcano Virtual Experience is a different kind of tourist activity. Thanks to a pair of glasses and Virtual Reality you will be able to travel back to that 10th of August 1519. You will see what the port of Seville was like when Ferdinand Magellan set sail. The Portuguese navigator himself, together with other heroes of the heroic deed, such as Elcano and Pigafetta, will show you the port.
New technologies will allow you to travel back in time. Not only will you see what the port of Seville was like in the 16th century, but you will also witness the Portuguese intrigues to sabotage the enterprise, you will witness the preparation of the voyage and you will even be able to walk virtually through the hold of the nao Victoria. It will be a different kind of visit, a unique experience.
