Discover the past of the Acropolis of Athens

With thousands of years of history, Athens is the cradle of Western civilisation. Its cultural and artistic appeal makes it a must-see. A powerful city-state, it was the political and philosophical epicentre of the Classical Mediterranean, and the Acropolis was the most sacred place in that Athens.

With Past View Athens you have a unique opportunity: to travel hundreds of years back in time to the most splendid period of the Athenian capital. Travel back to classical Greece

Past View Athens covers the whole Acropolis of Athens. It spans both the period of Classical Greece and the time the city was under the rule of the Roman Empire. Along the route you will travel back in time to discover what the Propylaea Gate, the temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and the Parthenon looked like in the classical period, both outside and inside, where you will see the spectacular statue of Athena Parthenos. You will also discover the original appearance of the Roman Odeon and the Theatre of Dionysus. You will not only see buildings and monuments: you will also discover the everyday life of those Athenians, guided by a venerable elder, a priestess, a playwright or Plato himself.

But the experience does not end there. The video guide tells the story of the Acropolis, its mythological origins, the history of Athens and its most important and popular sights today. And thanks to the motion sensor, Augmented Reality and computer-generated reconstructions, you will be able to see the spectacular bronze statue of Athena Promachos, some 15 metres tall, made by Phidias.
