Description

A different and unique experience. 500 years ago Seville witnessed the start of a feat that changed History: the First Circumnavigation of the World. Ferdinand Magellan set sail from the port of Seville on 10 August 1519, in command of five ships and 239 men. The aim was to reach the Spice Islands by a new route that meant crossing the Indies. After countless setbacks, including the death of Magellan himself, the expedition was completed by Juan Sebastián Elcano. On 8 September 1522, the Nao Victoria and 18 sailors under Elcano’s command arrived at the port of Seville. The first voyage around the world had been accomplished.

The Past View Magallanes – Elcano Virtual Experience is a different kind of tourist activity. Thanks to a pair of glasses and Virtual Reality, you can travel back to that 10 August 1519. You will see what the port of Seville that watched Ferdinand Magellan sail away was like. The Portuguese navigator himself, together with other heroes of the voyage such as Elcano and Pigafetta, will show you around the port.

New technologies will let you travel in time. Not only will you see what the port of Seville was like in the 16th century, you will also witness the Portuguese plots to sabotage the expedition, watch the preparations for the voyage and even walk virtually through the hold of the Nao Victoria itself. A different visit, a unique experience.
